Bottom Street This view is looking up towards the top of Bottom Street in July 1965 when the village was almost empty, it was like a ghost town. As you can see all the houses in Bottom Street were bricked up and uninhabited. The view of the fields in the distance are that of Agger Hill which leads to Finney Green.Agger Hill is still there today and home to about 4 farms and 8 residential properties. The road leading to Agger Hill is no more than a dirt track with room only for one-way traffic. You can walk across the fields to Agger Hill & Finney Green from a wooden style, which is unfortunately not visible from this photo I’m afraid.
I believe that Bottom Street was the first Street to be demolished as it was closest to the Colliery, which was by now just a big mound of dirt on the skyline.
