Bowls Many of the residents of Leycett used to play bowls as a pastime, they had their own bowling green, which was situated roughly where the cricket club car park is now along the white board fencing. My Grandad used to play bowls as you can see below by the photo. From left to right:Ernest Tomkinson (My fathers uncle, lived at 119 Pk Terrace) - Selwyn Ing (My Grandad, lived at 120 Pk Terrace) ,Mr Wood - (End house at Park Terrace,Park View ?)Jabez Broadhead (Undermanager at Leycett Colliery). The bowls hut was actually a disused railway carrige and was along side the white fence boards at the top of the rail embankment.

They were along side the bowling green, just behind all the garages at Park Terrace.
My family used to play quite a lot during summer months, even the dog ,Rover had a go.
You can see a row of houses in the rear of this photo ,this is Park Terrace.
(Photo - © Kathryn J Ing)FootballThere was also a small football pitch at Leycett Cricket field ,I am unsure when it was there from but I do know that it was there from at least 1911 and carried on during the late 40's through to the 60's as my Dad used to play for Leycett FC when he was younger. The pitch was along side the white boards separating the train lines from the driveway. The football team shared the club house with the cricket team as you can see form the photo taken in 1920.If you can name anyone on the photo please drop me an email at kathryn641@hotmail.com and let me know as the men are at present unidentified.(Photo - © Kathryn J Ing)
